Members that have played recently would have seen work being carried out on the revamping of the First and Tenth tees, that include new rubbish bins, Sand bins, bucket holders and ball washers. Yes, the Mayors Charity event was on the 1st March, however Council have advised us that all work will continue beyond that the Majors event and will include improvements on all 18 holes.
Most importantly, there will be another coring of greens commencing Monday 11th March. This is part of the planned work to restore the damaged greens in the short-term Cameron Stuart, the consultant employed by council, has written a short, medium and longer strategy for each green, so this is the first step along that road.
Along with the coring will be some re-seeding and application of various chemicals to enhance root growth and remove the various weeds that are currently present.
There will be some inconvenience to players with this additional coring, however this will also lead to a much-improved surface once the coring settles, the improvements, given some good rain and cooler temperatures should be evident in April. Please bear with us during this time.
In the meantime, the Committee has prepared an extensive list of maintenance issues that require attention by Council and a meeting will be scheduled in the next few weeks to review, agree and to apply some time lines on an agreed work. Once confirmed members will be kept updated via the web page.
Thank you for your continued support and we are confident that this work will mean a very much improved gold course for us all to enjoy once again.
