Dear Club Members and Social Players ,
I am sure you would agree that it has been devastating and heart-breaking to have witnessed the bushfire crisis unfold this summer, and more recently over the new year period.
It has also been truly inspiring and humbling to hear of the heroic efforts of many clubs in serving their community by providing refuge and care for RFS volunteers, residents, tourists, and animals (wildlife and pets), and valuable resources to protect property.
Golf NSW has recently been in contact with many clubs to ascertain the true extent of damage caused and the effect the fires have had in NSW and the ACT, and to determine how Golf NSW can assist.
In addition, many clubs have since made contact with Golf NSW seeking advice on the best way to assist these clubs.
As a result, on Wednesday January 22, Golf NSW will be launching a Club Bushfire Relief Fund, through the NSW Golf Foundation, to assist those clubs affected by this crisis. Please keep an eye out for the launch announcement.
The Club Bushfire Relief Fund will be different from most other charitable funds in that every dollar raised will be utilised to assist clubs directly affected by bushfires.
To help raise funds Hurstville Golf Club has arranged for a collection bucket for members and other golfers to donate and the money will be sent to the NSW Golf Donation. The Golf Club will also make a donation.
The bucket will be in the Pro- Shop to drop your donation in or alternatively you could pledge a contribution from your prize money by filling out a slip in the pro-shop and dropping it in the bucket.
The bucket will be in the pro-shop from Saturday 25th January until Saturday 8th February.
We would like to raise $2,000.
Thanks in advance for your support. If who aren’t playing in the comp you can drop-in anytime and donate via the pro shop.
