Our regular group of humble, hard working volunteers turned up at Royal Hurstville again on Monday 9th December…. but this time they swapped their rakes, shovels and chainsaws for their golf gear. As a special vote of thanks for the amazing work they do on the course throughout the year, the volunteer group was treated to a 9-hole event sponsored by BlueFit.
The field of 15 enthusiastic golfers with handicaps ranging from 8 to 28 played an individual stableford event, posting some very honest scores.

The field saw 3 golfers finish level to handicap on 18 points, 5 finish 1 down on 17 points, 3 on 16, 2 on 13, and 2 on 11.
Winner
Ron Lea shot a very tidy 18 points to be crowned as the ultimate winner, taking home the wine he donated and the auspicious title of the inaugural HGC Volunteer Cup winner.
Second Place
On a countback, in second place, also shooting an even par 18 points was our President, Steve Osborne, and in third place, with an equally talented 18 points was Peter Rolfe.
Ladies NTP-in-3
The ladies NTP-in-3 on the 18th hole went to Vicki Hoare with a final distance recorded of 'about 50cm' ...great approach shot by Vicki.
Longest Drive
The Longest drive on the 12th hole went to Darrell (the Gorilla) Moss.
Nearest the Pin
NTP on the down-hill 11th was won by our newest committee member, Terry Abel (0.70cm) who also went on to tap in the birdie putt.
Men's Drive and Pitch
And, the mens Drive & Pitch on the 18th hole was won by Michael Andon with a very tidy approach shot to land 3.80m from the hole.
A great morning of honest golf, banter, and some light refreshments. Sincere thanks to Stewart and the BlueFit team for their generosity.
Thanks also to Jeff Williams the coordinator of all the volunteers who turn up like clockwork each Monday morning to help proudly maintain what is now the envy of the south.
Our volunteers will take a well earned break through the Christmas / New Year period, so please help them ease back in by keeping the course in decent condition; replacing a few divots; and respecting the gardens whilst they are away.
🎄 Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! 🎄
