It is with a heavy heart that we advise of the passing of Life Member Peter Greig.
Peter was a foundation member of Hurstville Golf Club and became the inaugural Club Captain.
As Club Captain, Peter played a leading role in the establishment of the club and the competition program that we all enjoy today. He oversaw many major developments within the club and the wider golfing community, including the introduction of golf management technology, changes to handicapping and the introduction of the course ratings.
Peter gave thousands of hours of his time performing behind-the-scenes work for the club. In 2023, in recognition of his selfless dedication, the members unanimously voted to award him a life membership.
Peter passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Calgary Hospital on Thursday. We extend our condolences to Peter’s wife, Barbara, his family, and his many friends within our club.
Peter’s funeral will be held at 1pm Wed 30 July
South Chappel Woronora Memorial Park
This will be followed by a wake at St George Maso’s Club, Roberts Ave, Mortdale.
In lieu of flowers, Peter’s family have set up a Memorial Page with Chris O’Brien Lifehouse to help raise much-needed funds for cancer research.
