Hurstville v Woolooware at The Lakes Golf Course
Our SSP team arrived at The Lakes for Round 4 yesterday, Monday 4 August. Misty rain greeted us however the sun soon shined through. Considering the amount of rain which fell in Sydney and surrounds, the course lived up to its reputation as the best wet weather course in Sydney. Understandably the greens were a little slower than usual and preferred lies on fairways only was the order of the day. Motorised carts were not permitted on the course.
The Woolooware Team proved very strong on the day. Our team put up a good fight but, in the end, Woolooware outlasted us, with the exception of Roy Marshall who won his match 4&2. Our #1 Colin Kent fought to the 18th and almost squared his match. #2 Danny Rothwell (2&1 loss), #3 Warrick Berrett (3&2 loss) and #6 Tim Hooper (3&1 loss) had very close matches which could have turned our way. Our other Team mates tried very hard but the bounce of the ball went the other way.

Our next game is at Kareela GC on Monday, 11 August July, where Hurstville will play St Michaels GC in the fifth round.
Hurstville will be hosting the Division 5 clubs at Hurstville on Monday, 25 August 2025. If you have a couple of hours to spare, to act as spotters around the course, you are more than welcome to come along. Any time after say 11 am would be very helpful. First match is Kareela Vs Bonnie Doon at 10am, then The Lakes Vs St Michaels at 10.30 and Cronulla Vs Woolooware at11am. That’s 48 players participating and the golf – first class.
