Hurstville v Fox Hill at Fox Hill
The weather continues to play a major role in the Warren and Gibson Pennants. Fox Hill was a swimming pool: it was muddy, slushy, with the only thing missing was the beer.
It was another tough away game for the Warren team with all three groups going down to the home team. While there was no joy for the Warren boys, two matches were taken to the 18th hole and with a bit of luck the outcome could have been quite different.
The Gibbo team can be happy with their golf despite the outcome. Tony O’Reilly and Ian Edwards had all the momentum in their match until Ian suffered an injury after he fell twice in the messy conditions. To his credit, Ian battled through the pain to complete the match, but the Fox Hills team were able to finish the match with a 3/2 win.
Terry Pollock and Michael Andon (who tells me that he is way past his prime) had a poor front nine. Their second nine was much more competitive, with Terry stringing a few pars together to go down 2 and 1 eventually.
The third Gibbo group saw Jim Pedone debut for the season with the ever-consistent Jake May. They combined brilliantly to post our only win on the day in both Shields.
