Hurstville v Fox Hills at Hurstville
Course conditions continue to be a challenge for the Warren and Gibson Pennants. Hurstville hosted Fox Hills this week, and while there was no rain, our course is still very wet in patches and players were required to tee-up through the green. Despite the conditions, the Fox Hills team were complimentary about our course and they mentioned that they would like to play here again.
Starting with Gibbos this week because they have posted their first win for this year with 2½ matches to ½ against the strong Fox Hills team. This was a great effort, as previous losses will make progressing to the finals a challenge. Jake and Cameron posted a 1-up victory with an entertaining game right to the finish line. Both the young guns had great games, with Jake dropping his approach shot close to the pin on the 18th to take the win. It was great to see our stalwart Tony, who paired with Tod Brown for a decisive 4 & 3 win. Finally, a determined Trevor England and Jim Pedone held their nerve to halve the match on the 18th with a clutch put from Trevor. All credit to the spirit shown by the Gibbos.
John Worthington and Perry Pericles won the 17th hole to take a 3/1 win over their opponents. The other teams of Blake McEntire and Ron Brennan, and David Yang and Joe Belinha, were competitive but couldn’t quite get the momentum to take a win. The Warren team finished the day with a 2/1 loss.

Next week is another home fixture with the teams meeting Gordon for the first time this year. It would be great for a break in the weather to allow the course to dry out for the weekend, but as I write this, the rain is tumbling down again.
