Mixed Pennants Round 2
Hurstville 2 Lost to Mona Vale 3
After 24 hours of rain, it wasn’t looking like a fun day out for the second round of Mixed Pennants, but Eastlake Golf Course had recovered well from the downpour and was in good shape. Unfortunately, not well enough to have carts on the course, which resulted in a few last-minute team changes.
The first match completed was the No. 4 pairing of Matt and Vicki. After a match where the Hurstville pair was always chasing their opponents, they made an early exit with a 5/4 loss.
The first win of the day for Hurstville came from the No. 5 team of Janet and Nick. The team was 1 down late in the match, but Nick and Janet rallied and came home with the win on the 18th. The No. 3 team of Donna and Branco were comfortably in control of their match and recorded the second win for Hurstville.
The No. 2 team of Judy and Tim battled to the 17th hole but unfortunately could not hold on and were eventually beaten 3/1. The No. 1 team of Janette and Rowan were the last team on the course. They were the zombie team that refused to die. Each time their opponents looked like they were in control, Janette and Rowan would claw back and keep the match going. The Mona Vale team finally took the win when there were not enough holes left to mount another comeback.

Next week, the competition pauses for the Australia Day long weekend. The following week is a bye for the Hurstville Team, and we will be hosting the other teams in our pool.
