Hurstville v Lakeside Camden
The Hurstville Warren and Gibson teams trekked out to Lakeside Camden for Round 4 of their pool matches. The forecast rain turned up, but thankfully all the matches were completed without the teams getting too wet.
Warren Team
The Warren team went down with all matches making it to the 17th hole. Leading off for the Hurstville team were Mark and Ron, who came back from a 4 hole deficit to get back to square. Some red-hot putting from the opposition on the large, fast greens ultimately proved their undoing.
Next off were Jake and Matt, who also got off to a slow start but rallied to be square after 14 holes. Playing 1’s today, Nick and Perry emerged victorious with Perry chipping over a bunker to a metre for a gimme putt on the 17th hole.
Gibson Team
The Gibson team put up a stellar effort, losing only one match to the local team. With a majority of new pennants players on the team, this was no small feat, particularly at a difficult away course.
Ian and Paul struck stiff opposition, going down on the 17th hole. The final two matches were epic battles going down to the wire. In true Gibson tradition, the last matches finished after sunset in cold, wet conditions. At least they got back in time for the host dinner of hamburger and chips.
