Foursome Championship
The Foursome Championship will be played over two rounds:
- Sat 11 May
- Sat 18 May
For those not familiar with foursomes the format is as following:
- Only members can play in the championship
- Stroke play
- Played in pairs
Shots are taken alternately with 1 ball played between the 2 players
Player 1 tees off then Player 2 plays that ball, player 1 next and so on until the ball is in the hole
On the next hole player 2 tees off then player 1 plays that ball, player 2 next and so on until the ball is in the hole
(effectively 1 player tees off on the odd-numbered holes and player 2 tees off on the even-numbered holes)
Whichever player order is selected for week 1 is then reversed for week 2
Groups need to have more than 1 pairing (so check your tee time – you may have to move or not play if you don’t have a partner)
Groups of 2 or 3 do not work in week 1 (there is no swinger). A group of 2 (1 pair) will be asked to play with the next group of 4
Week 2 has an individual competition run for those who don’t wish to keep playing foursomes so a group of 2 or 3 is OK
Rules 1-20 apply to this form of play (with the side playing one ball being treated in the same way as the individual player is treated), as modified by these specific Rules.
