At this month’s Annual General Meeting, the members unanimously voted to ratify the awarding of Life Membership to two of the club’s longest-standing and hardest-working members.
David Moody
David was part of the founding committee that paved the way for the creation of Hurstville Golf Club in 2005. David initially took on the role of Vice President for the first year of the club. In 2008 he became the Club President and continued in this role until he stepped down this year.
David has overseen the club as it grew from a collection of social clubs and casual players into an accredited golf club with over 900 members. Vital to this was the work done with Georges River Council to guarantee access to the golf course and the improvements that we are all able to enjoy today.
Peter Greig
Peter also played an important role in the establishment of Hurstville Golf Club. Peter was Club Captain from the inception of the club until he stepped down from the role this year.
Peter played a significant role in the club becoming affiliated with GolfNSW. He has managed several major changes to handicapping and the introduction of course slope ratings. The behind-the-scenes work required for the competitions that we take for granted is enormous and Peter has selflessly given up his time so we can enjoy our golf.
Peter and David have both dedicated an incredible amount of time and energy to the club and we thank them for their contribution.
