Hurstville v Kareela
We were greeted by sunshine and perfect golfing conditions at Woolooware Golf Club. Club Captain, Adrian O’Connor, greeted the team warmly and had arranged half way refreshments and a BBQ after the game. Our opponent was the Kareela Team and I’m pleased to advise that we were successful in combat, winning 4.5 to 3.5.
Todd Shaw, our #1 won 3&2. Danny Rothwell, David Felstead and Warwick Berrett all won, check the results below. Bruce Russell got us over the line by squaring the last match at the 18th hole. Trevor Ratcliffe and Jimmy White lost their matches, while Colin Kent went down, after a very competitive match, 1 down.
I have to say the Team spirit was riding high. It’s a pity we can only have eight players each game, as we have 3 or more other players who could represent the club with distinction.

Our next game is MONDAY, 17 August at THE LAKES, where our opponent is Bonnie Doon. We are in the final game at 10am.
The Woolooware course had some holes shortened and the 17th was out of play. Renovations were underway to address drainage issues, however the course was prepared very well and conditions suited our players quite well. My compliments to Woolooware, who went to great lengths to welcome us, providing half way wraps and BBQ at the end. A very relaxed post-game celebration followed. I offer my congratulations to our Team for a gritty win and particularly, Dave Felstead, for a superb effort on the day.
