Further to all previous advice, today (1st April 2020) Golf NSW has advised that golf courses in NSW can remain open provided that all social distancing protocols are in place and that golfers only play in pairs.
The statement from Golf NSW states as follows:
After reconsideration, the Office of Sport – NSW Government has advised that golf is considered an activity that can continue to be played in line with Public Health Orders relating to public gathering limits, social distancing, and the elderly.
Given the conflicting information over the past few days the club has removed competitions from Thursday and Friday (2nd and 3rd April) but bookings made are still in place and all tee times are allocated in pairs for those days. These will be social games only.
Saturday 4th was allocated as Monthly Medal. This has been deferred. All current bookings will be cancelled as it is set in groups of 4. A new timesheet based on pairs will be allocated to Saturday.
Saturdays play will be social play only. Please rebook online or call the Pro-shop. The match committee will decide on how or if any competitions can be structured going forward. This will be passed to members when approved.
It is also important that the club point out to members over 70, or those with health issues, consider their personal position in playing given the current situation as to this virus.
Whether competition or social, the following remain firmly in place.
- Play only in pairs.
- 1 person per cart.
- Flag stick to remain in at all times and only handled with a gloved hand.
- All bunkers are out of play, free drop out. Do not handle rakes.
- Social distancing of 1.5 metres at all times.
- No congregating outside or inside the Pro-shop.
- Leave immediately after playing.
Regards
